Infinix has added another model to its smart TV catalog with the launch of its new 40Y1V QLED TV, bringing premium display technology to an unprecedented price point. Set to go on sale starting March 1, this 40-inch smart TV provides QLED quality at less than KES 25,000, making it one of the most affordable QLED TVs on the market.
Key Specs and Features
The standout feature of the Infinix 40Y1V is its 40-inch QLED panel with Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). While many budget TVs in this price segment offer standard LED displays, Infinix has managed to incorporate QLED technology, which typically produces more vibrant colors and deeper blacks compared to conventional displays.
The near bezel-less design maximizes screen real estate and creates a more immersive viewing experience.
With 300 nits of peak brightness and a standard 60Hz refresh rate, the display should perform adequately for most everyday content consumption, though it might not compete with higher-end models for HDR content or fast-action scenes.
Audio performance often takes a backseat in budget TVs, but Infinix has equipped the 40Y1V with dual 16W stereo speakers supporting Dolby Audio. The system offers five distinct sound modes – Standard, Soccer, Movie, Music, and User – allowing viewers to customize their audio experience based on content type.
The down-firing speaker design should help project sound more effectively throughout the room, creating a more immersive audio-visual experience than typically found at this price point.
Powering the smart TV experience is a quad-core processor paired with a Mali-G31 GPU, which should handle navigation and app loading efficiently.
The TV comes with 4GB of internal storage for app installations, with popular streaming platforms like YouTube, Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video, Jio Cinema, SonyLiv, and Zee5 preloaded.
Built-in web browsing capabilities and screen mirroring support add versatility, allowing users to cast content from mobile devices, laptops, and PCs directly to the TV.
The Infinix 40Y1V doesn’t skimp on connectivity options either despite its budget price tag. It includes:
- Two HDMI ports with ARC support for connecting external devices
- Two USB ports for media playback or charging smaller devices
- LAN port for wired internet connection
- Built-in Wi-Fi for wireless streaming
- RF port for antenna or cable connections
- AV in port for compatibility with older devices
- 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening
- Digital optical audio output for connecting to external audio systems
The inclusion of HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) is a big deal, as it allows users to connect soundbars or audio receivers with a single cable, reducing clutter while maintaining high-quality audio transmission.
Pricing and Availability
Unfortunately, the smart TV has been launched in India only. It is currently priced at ₹13,999 (about KES 21,000). The company will begin selling the TV through authorized retailers and popular e-commerce platforms starting March 1.
