Samsung Electronics has once again raised the bar in the premium television space. TUV Rheinland, a globally recognized certification body based in Germany, has awarded Samsung’s latest QLED TV lineup the ‘Real Quantum Dot Display’ certification.
This certification confirms that Samsung’s QLED TVs use true quantum dot technology and meet international display standards.
What Is Quantum Dot Technology?
Quantum dots are tiny, light-sensitive particles. These dots can produce precise, vibrant colors when exposed to light.
In Samsung’s QLED TVs, blue LED backlights shine through a layer of these dots, which then emit pure red and green colors. This process helps the TV deliver more accurate and vivid colors compared to traditional LED TVs.
Quantum dots are also more stable and long-lasting than other materials, meaning your TV picture quality stays consistent over time.
What Models Were Certified?
As part of TUV Rheinland’s rigorous testing, Samsung’s QLED TVs were evaluated for their light spectrum accuracy. The tests confirmed a clear and distinct separation of red, green, and blue wavelengths, which directly translates to better color precision and clarity.
This is a defining characteristic of true quantum dot technology, unlike other display solutions that may suffer from color bleeding or reduced vibrancy.
The following Samsung QLED TVs are now officially certified for using real quantum dot technology:
- Neo QLED 8K: QN990F, QN900F
- Neo QLED 4K: QN90F, QN85F, QN80F, QN70F
- QLED 4K: Q8F, Q7F, Q6F
These models meet the IEC 62595-1-6 standard, which defines how real quantum dots should be used in displays.
In addition to performance, Samsung’s cadmium-free quantum dot technology has earned recognition from SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) for environmental safety.
According to Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, “This certification objectively validates that Samsung QLED TVs deliver true quantum dot performance built to international standards. We will continue to drive innovation and strengthen consumer trust as we lead the premium TV market.”
Are There Other Certified TVs?
Currently, Samsung is one of the few major brands to have received this ‘Real Quantum Dot Display’ certification from TUV Rheinland.
While other manufacturers also use quantum dot-like tech, this certification sets Samsung apart by proving it meets strict international standards.
With TUV Rheinland’s stamp of approval and cadmium-free quantum dots, Samsung’s QLED TVs offer colorful, eco-conscious, and truly next-level viewing experiences.
Consumers looking for vivid color accuracy, safe materials, and certified quality can now look to Samsung QLED TVs with even greater confidence.
