Sometime early next week Blackberry users will start experiencing updates to several of Blackberry AppWorld apps like Facebook for BlackBerry, Twitter for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Travel, BlackBerry App World and BBM Music. Updates will be geared towards sharing to BBM community hence included BBM connectivity. Some of these like Twitter for Blackberry and Facebook for Blackberry already have this feature added in version 3.0 of each, while BlackBerry Travel version 2.5, BlackBerry App World version 3.1.2, BBM Music version 2.1 and BBM version 6.2 updates will come starting the week of the 22nd.
“Since we provided developers the means to build BBM connectivity into their apps, we have seen more than 800 hundred new BBM-connected apps come to market, which has been followed by a huge uptake by users – about one of every five apps being downloaded on BlackBerry App World is a BBM-connected app,” said Alec Saunders, VP of Developer Relations at RIM. “Today we’re excited to announce that RIM has also integrated BBM connectivity into a number of our own popular apps and the BBM-connected revolution continues to grow.”
Facebook and twitter charing will allow users share from within the app, the latest tweet or status update. Blackberry Travel, once updated, will allow travel junkies to share their travel plans with BBM groups or to a specific user. App recommending will be a breeze once BBM version 6.2 comes live, together with Blackberry App World 3.1.2. With Blackberry Tag, available for Blackberries running BBOS 7.1 or higher and NFC enabled devices, users will share installed app info. RIM adds that there could be unavailability of some apps in some countries though.
