Jolla has finally come of age and they have something to show of their months of work for the platform that was killed by Nokia. Remember Meego and the Nokia N9? Well the guys who were working on the OS left after Nokia CEO announced that Nokia N9 will be the last of the Meegos. They still thought there was something to be milked off the well received Meego. Jolla, the company they formed, developed Meego, a fully Gesture based OS and named it Sailfish, recently demoed to an impressed press.
The first device running the OS is finally out and is available for pre-order at 399 EUR. Shipping will be by the end of 2013.
See below specs and features:
- 4.5 inch screen
- Dual-Core processor
- 8 MP rear camera, LED flash
- 16GB internal storage, expandable via microSD
- LTE support
- No buttons on the front
- Sailfish OS
- Removable back cover with different cover colours (just like Nokia)
Jolla phone will run Android apps, a fete that is quite great considering that the Jolla guys need not to struggle much to get apps on-board. See the video below introducing Jolla Phone.
Good one there Marto. The ability to run Android apps is a huge plus.
You bet they were longing to have all that portfolio within their reach and not have apps hamper their appeal to the consumer.

The guys over at Jolla users claim they got this information and that overall the Jolla Phone is number 5 best selling smartphone with Samsung Galaxy Trend topping the list of best sellers, Samsung Galaxy Y, Samsung Galaxy S III 4G and Nokia Lumia 520 follow in that order.
