Alcatel OneTouch is expected to release at least two Android smartphones next week at the Mobile World Congress. The two, the Idol 4 and the Idol 4S, will succeed the widely popular Idol 3. However, there may be another piece of the puzzle that we may have left out: a Windows smartphone from a brand that prides itself in offering great devices at bargain prices.
According to Windows Mobile-centric site WMPU, Alcatel OneTouch has been working on a Windows 10 version of its flagship devices.
The device, going by the name Idol Pro 4 and nicknamed ‘Superphone’, will reportedly ship with high-end features. A Snapdragon 820, the best that Qualcomm has to offer at the moment is said to power the device. Since the Alcatel OneTouch Idol Pro 4 has top-of-the-range specifications, it will also have Continuum, the Windows 10 feature that makes it possible for users to turn their mobile devices into mini-PCs when projected on larger displays or adapting the user interface to fit varying use case. A full HD display may also make it to the device.
While it is too early to have a clear picture of the Alcatel OneTouch Idol Pro 4, it should not come as a surprise if the device is only made available in the United States where carrier T-Mobile may be getting it as an exclusive.
Alcatel OneTouch is said to be keen on releasing several Windows 10 smartphones. The Idol Pro 4 ‘Superphone’ may just be the curtain-raiser.
