Samsung-Galaxy-Ultimate-Squad

Samsung-Galaxy-Ultimate-SquadSamsung Electronics East Africa has today launched what they call “The Ultimate Squad”. The Squad consists of a trendsetter, movie star, photographer and a selfie lover otherwise known as the Galaxy J4, Galaxy J6, Galaxy J7 Duo and the Galaxy A6+ respectively.

The devices which carry a price tag ranging from Kes.19,000 to Kes.39,999 are meant to attract the younger generation who have in the past sort after Chinese-manufactured devices due to their affordability.

Samsung says that the new range of devices will offer great specifications across the range to meet the needs of users who have come to expect quality from Samsung devices. With features such as AMOLED displays, Dolby Atmos for enhanced surround sound and Bixby voice assistant making an appearance across the squad.

Samsung EA also announced that in partnership with Lipa Later –  an electronics financing company, they would offer all of the phones announced on monthly instalments for as low as Kes.3,000 without the requirement of a deposit. Below are brief specifications of the squad.

Galaxy J4

Samsung Galaxy j4

Apparently, this is the trendsetter of the squad. The device offers decent enough specifications but might find it hard to compete against the competition due to evidently inferior specifications but that display…hmm… The device also comes pre-installed with an ultra data saving mode that Samsung says works better than any third-party apps.

  • 5.5-inch AMOLED display (720p)
  • 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage
  • Exynos 7570 (Quad-core 1.4 GHz)
  • Android 8.0 Oreo
  • 13MP main camera, 5MP selfie shooter
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Price – Kes.19,000

Galaxy J6

The movie star actually has the looks thanks to that “infinity display” – please don’t expect S9-like curves though. However, the fingerprint scanner actually looks like the one on the S9.

  • 5.6-inch AMOLED display (720p) with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio
  • 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage
  • Exynos 7870 (Octa-core 1.6 GHz)
  • Android 8.0 Oreo
  • 13MP main camera, 8MP selfie shooter
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint reader + facial recognition
  • Price – Kes.26,000

Galaxy J7 Duo

The emphasis of this device is the dual camera setup – thus it’s the photographer. The second lens is solely used for depth enabling the device to capture bokeh-effect images.

  • 5.5-inch AMOLED display (720p)
  • 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage
  • Exynos 7885 (Octa-core)
  • Android 8.0 Oreo
  • Dual 13MP + 5MP main camera, 8MP selfie shooter
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Front-mounted fingerprint reader + facial recognition
  • Price – Kes.31,000

Galaxy A6+

Samsung Galaxy A6+

This device is for anyone who wants to have an S9+ but doesn’t have that kind of money. At around half the price of the flagship, you get quite a lot of features that offer a similar experience with the flagship.

  • 6.0-inch AMOLED display (1080p) with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio
  • Always-On display
  • 3/4GB RAM, 32/64GB internal storage
  • Snapdragon 450 (Octa-core 1.8 GHz)
  • Android 8.0 Oreo
  • Dual 16MP + 5MP main camera, 24MP selfie shooter
  • 3500mAh battery
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint reader + facial  recognition
  • Price – Kes.39,999
