Huawei recently unveiled the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 late last month and started taking pre-orders via Jumia which ended yesterday. The phone got over 1000 pre-orders within the pre-order short period after launch. The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is an upgrade from last year’s Huawei Y9 2019 and we’ve been using for a while since it officially launched. Users who pre-ordered the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 got gift hampers including headphones worth Ksh 3000.

Today’s public launch at Two Rivers Mall was graced with various celebrities including Njugush, Jaymo yule Msee, King Kaka and Nick Mutuma. With the pre-order period closed, that means that the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 will be available in retail stores across Kenya in the list below.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 rocks a 6.59″ LCD display with resolution of 2340 by 1080p. The lack of a notch and the tiny bezels give the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 an insane 91%screen to frame ratio. The bigger screen means more real estate for multimedia consumption and playing games.

Under the hood, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is powered by the company’s own CPU, HiSilicon Kirin 710F similar to the one in the Huawei P30 lite.

You also get 4GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage. And if you want more, you can expand the storage using a micro SD card to upto 400GB.

Optics-wise, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 rocks 4 AI-powered cameras – three at the back and one pop-up selfie camera. The main cameras include a 16MP camera that has an f/1.8 aperture with fast autofocus. The second camera is an 8MP ultra wide camera and the third is a 2MP depth sensor.

The pop-up selfie camera is motorized and features a 16MP lens. Huawei assures users that they’ve tested the motorized sytem and put it over 100,000 repeated pop-ups.

There a lot of features to play around with includingThe Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 comes with Huawei’s latest UI, EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9 Pie

A 4000mAh battery runs the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 so expect great battery life. Another delightful feature is the USB-C port. The

Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 comes in various colours such as Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green. The back rocks a dual tone finish.
