The Huawei P30 Lite was launched in April in Kenya together with its bigger siblings, the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro for Ksh Kshs 26,899 but recently got a discount to Kshs 22,999 on Jumia during their anniversary sale. Huawei’s P30 series of phones allowed consumers to enjoy Huawei’s photographic powerhouses that the P series is known for. we even got to review it.

Huawei later launched Huawei P30 Lite New Edition in mid-October that was a revised edition of the Huawei P30 Lite and brought bumped up specs. For one, there is a brand new camera The older P30 lite had a 24MP f/1.8 main camera while the New Edition has a 48MP f/1.8 camera. This is the same camera sensor we have seen with several phones, ranging from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 to the OnePlus 7T. The new phone still retains the same 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and 2MP depth sensor camera from the older phone.

However, the selfie camera got a slight downgrade. The older P30 lite had a 32MP selfie camera while the new edition has a 24MP selfie camera.

The Huawei P30 Lite New Edition also increased RAM to 6GB from 4GB while retaining the 128GB of onboard storage its older sibling had.

The New Edition P30 Lite still ran on EMUI 9.0, used the Kirin 710 processor, had a USB-Type C port, same 6.15-inch FHD+ display and NFC support. The New Edition P30 Lite sells for Kshs 28,499.

Leaks are now suggesting that Huawei may launch a Huawei P30 Lite(2020) and join other relaunched devices under new names like the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 and Huawei Y9s that come with slight upgrades. This is probably Huawei’s way of launching new devices with Android after the US/Trade ban that prohibits the Chinese tech giant from using Google’s services.

Specs of the Huawei P30 Lite(2020) are still scarce but we can presume it will feature some slightly tweaked features of its predecessors and start selling from Ksh 39,000.
