Samsung will be bringing their 2023 foldables to Kenya in early August – the Z Fold5 and the Z Flip5.

The foldable smartphone market in Kenya now has new players from TECNO and OPPO with the former having V Fold and V Flip and the latter having the Find N2 Flip and the Find N3.

Samsung will be holding its Galaxy Unpacked 2023 in late July in South Korea where they will unveil the bookstyle foldable Z Fold5 and clamshell foldable Z Flip5. They will also be announcing new Galaxy 6 Series smart watches, and Tab S9 tablets.

The Z Fold5 comes packing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy like they did with the S23 series. It’ll also have faster UFS 4.0 onboard storage and RAM going all the way to 12GB.

It has new hinge design which means the phone now completely folds when closed leaving no gap. The new droplet hinge also minimizes the crease.

It’ll be relatively lighter at 254 grams with a new Light Blue colour which looks really nice.

It’ll have two 120Hz screens for the cover and inner display and IP58 rating.

It’ll have a 6.2 inch cover screen and a 7.6 inch inner display that will support S Pen input just like the Z Fold4.

Samsung will have the same camera from the Fold4 – the 50MP ISOCELL GN3.

The Z Flip5 will have a bigger external screen at 3.4 inches. Samsung has partnered with Google to optimize its apps like YouTube, Messages, and Maps for the display.

The Watch 6 is slated to use a curved glass design unlike the flat design of the Watch 5. It will also have a bigger screen at 1.47 inches. The 6 Pro will have a movable, rotatable and clickable bezel.

The battery capacity increases to 295mAh and 412mAh for the 40mm and 44mm respectively.

The series will be powered by W980 chipset and come running OneUI 5 Watch interface built on Google Wear OS 4 and pack new fitness and health features such as a new sleep coaching features among others.

Tab S9 Ultra will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. The Tab S9+ will have the same 120Hz 12.4″ Super AMOLED display while the Ultra will sport a 14.6 inch AMOLED screen with WQXGA+ resolution.

The Ultra will have 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and be powered by an 11200mAh battery.

It’ll also support 45W fast charging. It is rumored to have a IP68 rating.
