In an update announced on Thursday, WhatsApp introduced the ability to pin up to three messages in individual and group chats. Previously, users were limited to pinning only a single message per conversation.
The ability to pin chats within one-on-one and group conversation was first introduced in December, 2023.
WhatsApp’s new pinning feature lets you save important info, like a friend’s address or a group outing location, for easy access. Even better, you can pin any message type, including text, images, and even polls.
Pinning messages for quick reference is simple! Just long-press on the message and choose “Pin.” You can also set the duration for how long it stays pinned – 24 hours, 7 days (the default), or 30 days. This way, pinned messages automatically disappear once the information becomes outdated.
While pinned messages offer convenient access, they don’t stay forever. The maximum duration is 30 days, so you’ll need to re-pin an address if it’s still relevant. Alternatively, you can “Star” the message for long-term access. Starred messages are stored in the contact’s info section, making them easy to find.
The messaging platform announced the it is rolling out the ability to post longer videos. This for a limited number of users so not everyone will get this feature. Users will also need to update the app to the latest version to post 1-minute videos.
A decade after it was acquired by Meta, the platform has been on a roll lately introducing new features you should take advantage of.
