There are many instances where you can find yourself stranded with the Kenya Power prepaid tokens system. You might have lately bought some tokens to avoid a power cut but end up having the token SMS delayed for hours which can be a huge inconvenience. Well, there are a few ways that you can get to retrieve those tokens digitally without having to wait for that long.
a. Self-service Portal
Thanks to the Kenya Power website, you can enter your meter number on their online portal and have the latest tokens listed. All you have to do is:
- 1. Visit https://selfservice.kplc.co.ke
- 2. Tap/click on the ‘Bill/Token Query’ option at the top of the page.
- 3. Select the ‘Meter Number’ option then enter your respective meter number whose tokens you bought.
- 4. Hit ‘Search. The latest tokens you bought will then be listed.
b. MyPower App
Just like the Kenya Power self-service portal, this option is also free and only requires internet access. To use it;
- 1. Download and install the MyPower app for Android or Apple
- 2. Select ‘MyBill/Token’
- 3. Enter your meter number
- 4. A list of token transactions will be displayed
c. Kenya Power USSD Code
- 1. Dial *977#
- 2. Select option 1 for prepaid services
- 3. Select option 2 for the latest token
- 4. Select a pre-existing meter number or add a new one
- 5. An SMS containing the token transactions will be received.
