Airtel Money unveiled an exciting new campaign, ‘Paybill Rudishiwa’ aimed at rewarding its customers with friendly financial transactions during the festive season.
Under this initiative, customers will receive 50% of their Paybill transaction fees back as airtime when making payments to over two million merchant Paybills. The announcement was made during Airtel Money’s Business Update where the company reiterated its commitment to expanding its distribution network
“We are trying to look at our customer’s convenience, affordability and the value we continue giving them,” said Anne Kinuthia, Managing Director of Airtel Money Kenya.
“‘Paybill Rudishiwa’ will not only enhance value but also ensure users stay connected throughout the festive period,” said Ashish Malhotra, Managing Director, Airtel Kenya. “The incentive allows customers to enjoy the convenience of mobile payments while still receiving the benefits of airtime,” he added.
“Airtel Money had 18,000 agents when I first Joined. Today we have over 90,000 agents across the country to serve our customers efficiently,” Kinuthia said.
Airtel Network growth
The telecommunication’s company has managed to roll out deployment of 900 sites across the country. They are targeting on completing 100 more sites by January 2025.
“This initiative is aimed at enabling our customers enjoy best network experience at their convenience,” said the Airtel Boss.
In addition, Airtel has managed to launch 112 sites in North Eastern region of Kenya making a 93% coverage in the region.
Earlier this year, the company introduced several enhancements to its platform, including improved security features, faster transaction processing, and expanded partnerships with merchants and businesses. These efforts have helped Airtel Money strengthen its position as one of Kenya’s leading mobile money platforms.

Majority of the users being the youth, the initiative is designed to ease financial burdens.
“Transaction fees in this country are very high,” Kinuthia said, “we are offering almost 70% lower charges compared to the market, helping the youth save and access affordable data services like our 1GB at 50 offer,” she added
She explained that today, if a customer withdraws money at an Airtel Money agent, he or she is give them 100% of the transaction fee as airtime in which it can be used to buy bundles, talk, or whatever they prefer since it is not limited to time- doesn’t expire
Kinuthia encouraged Kenyans to join the movement since Airtel Money celebrates its growing customer base driven by affordability, value, and accessibility.

In an exclusive interview with Techweez Media, Airtel boss highlighted the introduction of value-driven mobile money solutions. The telecommunication company showcased its recent innovations, including weekly and monthly bundles and the nationwide rollout of its 5G network, now offered for free. Speaking at the event,

A 24-year-old student from Kenya explained to Techweez how excited she was about Airtel Money’s, ‘Paybill Rudishiwa’, initiative.
“It’s a game-changer,” she said, “as a youth, every coin counts, and getting 50% of my transaction fees back as airtime helps me save and stay connected.”
According to her, Airtel’s affordable data bundles, like the 1GB at 50 shillings, have made it easier for her to study online and stay in touch with friends.
“Airtel truly understands the challenges we face,” she said.
