Apple is preparing to roll out an update with iOS 19 that will hopefully streamline the way users connect to public Wi-Fi networks across all their Apple devices.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who first revealed the feature in his latest Power On newsletter, Apple is working on a system that would allow public Wi-Fi login credentials to sync automatically across all Apple devices tied to a user’s Apple ID.
Gurman describes this as a “much-requested” feature that aims to save users the trouble of entering the same network credentials on each individual device.
How It Works
Once a user connects to a public Wi-Fi network on one Apple device and enters the required login information, iOS 19 will automatically push that data to other devices in the same ecosystem.
This means if you’re logged into Wi-Fi on your iPhone, your iPad or Mac will instantly have access without needing to go through the login process. This will save users time and hassle, especially in environments where public Wi-Fi is often spotty or difficult to access.
When Will This Feature Be Available?
Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025.
While this feature is highly anticipated, it is just one of the many updates slated for iOS 19. The full update, which will include additional improvements and new functionalities, is expected to be available to the public later that year.
Additional Features of iOS 19
Beyond this Wi-Fi sync feature, iOS 19 will also bring several other enhancements to the Apple ecosystem:
- Revamped User Interface: Expect a refreshed design with updated icons and more intuitive controls, drawing inspiration from Apple’s visionOS.
- Apple Intelligence Integration: iOS 19 will further integrate AI-powered tools into Apple’s apps, making everyday tasks smarter and more efficient.
- Improved Multitasking on iPadOS: With upgrades to multitasking capabilities, iPad users will enjoy an experience closer to macOS, making the device more versatile for work and play.
With each new update, Apple is working to make the experience across its devices more seamless, efficient, and user-friendly. By removing the repetitive task of logging into Wi-Fi networks on each device, Apple is making connectivity simpler and more efficient.
