Samsung has announced their own messaging service, ChatOn that will rival BBM, whatsapp and iMessenger. Beauty of it is that it will be free for download across all major mobile platforms, smartphones and feature phones. Even blackberry.
ChatOn offers ability to send text, images, hand-written notes and videos. Users can chat in groups, while a Web client will allow the easy sharing of content and conversations between mobile and PC.
“With ChatON, Samsung has vastly simplified mobile communication by allowing users to connect to our upcoming feature phones and all major Smartphones in the market,”said Ho Soo Lee, Head of Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics. “Users around the world can now enjoy easier and richer interactivity with whoever they want, in the format they want—this is mobile communication reinvented and democratized.”
ChatON will be available for use from October in 160 countries and supporting 62 languages. Smartphone users will get the Interaction rank feature to show how often they communicate, post comments on buddies profile pages, create animations, scribble text, add audio and change background pictures. While feature phone users will share text, pictures, calendar, contacts and emotions.
ChatON will be available on feature phones, smartphones, PCs, notebooks and tablets, future devices will come embedded with the application.
