I was in Johannesburg on Thursday for the African launch of Windows 8 that also happened concurrently with the Global launch in the US. Just before the launch, I met a University Graduate from Tswani University of Technology in Pretoria and he was very excited at the progress Microsoft was making with Windows 8. Meet Katlego who told me he has 5 apps he has since developed on Windows 8 and is also glad that the tools he has for use are quite flexible with assists on User Interface and design and that makes him concentrate on functionality. Also, he is able to develop once and deploy to different device types across Windows 8.
Katlego told me that he got developer devices and was able to test the applications he has developed initially for the people of Tswani, one of then being a location app that is able to tell a user specifics about the area. See raw unedited video below as he tells his story.
