Google Alphabet predictedGoogle recently announced changes to its corporate structure by announcing Alphabet, a holding company which made Google as one of the subsidiaries. Larry Page, Google’s co-founder explained on the Alphabet’s homepage why they chose that name for the holding company: “What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies, the largest of which, of course is Google

He went on to say that “Fundamentally, we believe this allows us more management scale, as we can run things independently that aren’t very related.” Larry Page then later wrote the reason for having the various subsidiaries that were in Google to be under the Alphabet umbrella “the whole point is that Alphabet companies should have independence and develop their own brands.”

Reddit is known as “The Front Page of the Internet” for a very good reason. You tend to see discussions or instances happening first on Reddit then being transposed later on other social networks. Apparently, one year ago,on this subreddit, a question was asked “The New Age Alphabet: Google A to Google Z, can you think of something for the letter J? At that time, there was no Google Product with the letter J although right now there is Google Jump , which is their virtual reality video platform.

Its interesting how a simple discussion on a social media network about the various Google products names from A to Z went on to become an actual company later on but according to Business Insider, from their sources, this restructure was not a “surprise” and was in consideration for the past four years.
