Slovakian cybersecurity firm ESET recently opened offices in Nairobi seeking to serve the larger East African market. ESET previously operated its offices from South Africa with the Nairobi office seeking to offer dedicated support to new and existing clients, create brand awareness and establish a partner base. ESET is targeting SMEs through offering holistic internet security solutions including the antivirus solution, data encryption and back-up solutions with plans to capture 10-15% of the market.
ESET has since launched into the market the ESET Parental Control for Android app, which provides age and category-based filters to restrict children’s access to inappropriate web content. The app allows parents to regulate the amount of time their child spends on gaming and internet browsing using the ‘Application Guard & Time Management’ function, as well as switch on the ‘Child Locator’ service to track their child’s location.
ESET is now developing secure USB flash drives with in-built antivirus. The USB drives will feature built-in antivirus protection with built-in ClevX Drive Security powered by ESET, to keep contents of the USB flash drives safe and malware free, and prevent malware from spreading via removable media. ESET has partnered with Swedish tech firm CTWO Products AB to come up with the ClevX DriveSecurity USBs that uses ESET’s Nod32 antivirus engine. ClevX operates from the drive itself, for speed and convenience, with no need to install software onto a host computer.
