Airtel Kenya has partnered with South African firm FlickSwitch International to launch a Sim management tool targeted at corporate firms. The solution referred to as SIM control is an online self-service portal with a set of tools to manage mobile connectivity. Ideally, the administrator for the corporate creates business rules tailored for the usage of phones and other devices within the organization. The admin may for instance set rules to top up with Ksh 50.00, when the SIM balance drops below Ksh 10, for a maximum of 3 time a month. Cost is thereby capped at a known level and the business has full control over monthly usage.
In addition, the SIM control platform will also allow administrators to receive email notifications when SIMs are recharged, reached a limit or when recharges fail. All data such as SIM information, recharge reports and usage is displayed online and available for download which allows the business to evaluate their spend and tweak the business rules accordingly. FlickSwitch currently supports 100,000 SIMs for more than 550 Enterprises, largely in South Africa hence the foray into the Kenyan market. The deal will also see FlickSwitch supply enterprise customers with Airtel sim cards, with tailor made rules for each bulk of sim cards delivered to customers.
FlickSwitch sees its solution as an internet of things solution tailormade for the African continent, as it fosters connectivity between devices.
