Redington Kenya took it to the stage to officially announce the introduction of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus into the Kenyan market. Normally, this would not make any headlines as the iPhone 8 duo has been selling through third-party sellers for some time now. However, the news here is that Elite Digital, an Apple Premium reseller announced a payment plan of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus that would literally leave anyone who has ever wanted to own an iPhone running to them.
Elite Digital will offer an EMI (Equal Monthly Installments) scheme for the new iPhones. This means that anyone can get the new iPhones for as low as Ksh.9,950 as a first instalment and a similar amount paid every month, for a year. This offer comes bundled with a Belin wireless charger, iPhone compatible case, a tempered glass protector and 10GB of data. The catch? This offer is only available for orders made during the first week after launch, which starts today.
Safaricom is also opened pre-orders for the duo, with the iPhone 8 going for Ksh.104,000 and the plus variant going for Ksh. 119,999 for the 64GB variants, the 256Gb variants will retail for Ksh.129,99 and Ksh.144,999 for the 8 and 8 Plus respectively. All the devices pre-ordered through Safaricom will come bundled with 10GB of data.
To refresh your memory, the iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD True Tone display, glass back, wireless charging support, water resistance, 12MP camera, 7MP front-facing camera and the highlight being the new A11 Bionic processor that drives the iPhones AR and VR capabilities. The 8 Plus comes with a larger 5.5-inch display, dual 12MP cameras that allow for 2x zoom and Portrait mode pictures, the rest of the specifications are similar to that of the iPhone 8.
