Airtel, Kenya’s second largest telco has partnered with the country’s largest e-commerce platform Jumia to offer subscribers shopping vouchers in a bid to push new customer acquisition. According to the Communications Authority of Kenya, Airtel Kenya had a slight weight gain and added up 1.4 million subscribers in the past three months.
With this little ray of hope, Airtel has now switched up gears and want to drive up their subscriber numbers even higher as well as retain current subscribers.
Airtel Kenya CEO, Prasanta Das Sarma said that the company is out to offer its customers more value for their money. “At Airtel, we are committed to working with like-minded individuals and organizations such as Jumia that espouse our values which are anchored on offering our customers value for money services and convenience. As such, we are delighted to announce this great partnership that will see our customers get free shopping vouchers once they purchase new Airtel lines as well as based on their usage on our network.”
The promotion that is set to run for three months from today, will offer new Airtel subscribers a 500 bob Jumia shopping voucher. Existing subscribers will be awarded vouchers valued at between 100 shillings and 250 shillings for spending over 500 shillings airtime in a month on the network. The shopping vouchers will be valid for 30 days from the day it is issued.
“We are excited to work with the Airtel team. This is a great opportunity to both reward their customers and introduce many of them to online shopping. Free vouchers, cash on delivery payment and 3-months quality guarantee! Another reason to choose Airtel and Jumia,” said Jumia Kenya CEO, Sam Chappatte.
