TECNO brand is known for their budget smartphones, but they also have their own premium smartphone. This is the Phantom line and this is where we get to see the best from the company.
The company is now teasing the next Phantom flagship smartphone, the TECNO Phantom 9 and it has a saucy detail
If you check out the video posted by TECNO Mobile India, they have teased the Phantom phone having a cool feature: An in-display fingerprint scanner. This is shown clearly on the graphic in the video and this is big for a flagship phone.
We started seeing in-display fingerprint scanners being introduced last year on flagship smartphones last year. You would see them in smartphones that were typically more than Kshs 70,000. The Phantom series is usually priced below Kshs 50,000 and it could mean that this feature is now trickling down to cheaper devices.
The one teased by TECNO is probably the optical in-display fingerprint scanner that we have seen on other Chinese phones. It uses light to take a photo map of your fingerprint indentation and logs you in when it verifies your biodata.
The fingerprint scanner is not the only thing TECNO is teasing with the next Phantom flagship. They are also teasing that the camera will the “new standard in premium mobile photography”.
We should also expect that this will be the fastest TECNO phone that you can buy and will have better AI capability than the much cheaper phones on their lineup. Here are other specifications the TECNO Phantom 9 will pack.
We will have to wait and see what this is about when they launch it in the middle of July.
