Vidcon 2019 begins today and Pinterest announced 4 New video tools for brands and creators. The social media site that recently went public allows users to share visual boards, discover new interests by pinning images and videos using their own boards or from other users plus browsing what other users have pinned. The new tools come after a recent growth(31%) in searches for video content on the platform that now has almost 300 million monthly active users with over 54% users preferring video content shared on Pinterest rather than other social media networks.
- Improved video tools: For creators, this new video uploader will now let them post videos directly to Pinterest.
- Brands now have a new video tab to place their videos in one place.
- Lifetime analytics metric: This tool is for brands to track performance and views of their videos
- Pin scheduling: This is for both brands and creators to queue up videos in advance
Pinterest is launching these new features plus others announced earlier targetted for shopping such as Catalogs, Shop to Look as it tries to compete with Instagram which launched new Shopping features too. The Facebook-owned platform is also testing Public Collections – a feature ripped off of Pinterest. In May, the company launched a Pinterest Progressive Web App for Windows 10.
