Yesterday, Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy S20 series smartphones in their annual Unpacked conference. The Galaxy Z Flip is their new folding smartphone while the Galaxy S20 series are their new flagship phones of the year.
Samsung has now detailed the local pricing and preorder details for the new Samsung phones.
The Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and the S20 Ultra will retail for Kshs 100,000, 120,000 and 135,000 respectively. The Galaxy Z Flip is the most expensive of the bunch where it will retail for Kshs 160,000.
They will be sold at Samsung shops near you and also at Safaricom shops including Masoko.
When you preorder the new Samsung phones, you will get the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus which are worth KES 16,000 for free. Preorders will also be accompanied by a free screen replacement voucher. This is a pretty good incentive to get the new smartphones. This does not apply to the Galaxy Z Flip.
Preorders will start on 21st February to 12th March. The preorder site is live. Safaricom’s Masoko and offline shops will also avail the devices from March 13th.
The Galaxy S20 series family ships with 5G but Samsung says that will be deactivated for this market which makes sense since we do not have 5G in the market, yet.
So if you have been planning to upgade your phone with Samsung latest and greatest flagship phones, well now you have the opportunity to do so. They have updated fast refresh rate displays and new cameras and the fact that Samsung is yet again bundling them with free accessories (Galaxy Buds Plus) makes this a sweet deal for Kenyans.
