Huawei has today announced a partnership with Moovit where you can now access their app on their App Gallery.
Moovit is an Intel company in the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) provider and it is the creator of a popular global mobility app. It was acquired by Intel, the American semiconductor company for approximately $900 million in May this year.
This is the latest in a growing number of high-profile apps that have been built or adapted for the millions of consumers on Huawei’s platform.
Huawei worked closely with Moovit team throughout the technical process to leverage on their chip-device-cloud capabilities. Huawei says this is part of their commitment to developers and enables them to realize massive business benefits.
“As the leading urban mobility app, Moovit is a fantastic addition to AppGallery and meets our customers’ demands for global applications with a local focus. Like so many of the apps that are being added to our store on a daily basis, Moovit did not have to be built from scratch. Instead we worked together with the Moovit developers to adjust the existing model with ease. We have already seen high numbers of downloads, and with the marketing push that we are putting behind the Moovit launch, we expect this to increase sharply over the coming weeks,” Wang Heng, Vice President, Global Partnerships and Eco-Development at Huawei Consumer Business Group, CEE and Nordics said
Mooovit is a huge platform on its own right. It is in use by over 865 million people in 3200 cities across 106 countries worldwide. This free urban mobility app combines information from public transport operators, micro-transport operators and transport authorities with live information from the user community. As a result, this provides a real time picture of the best route for the journey.
“The integration of Moovit’s multimodal journey planning and navigation app on Huawei smartphones will help make daily life a little bit easier for millions. Huawei provided us with excellent support during the integration into the AppGallery ecosystem. The Huawei team was responsive and communicative and fully shares our excitement about this partnership,” Yovav Meydad, Moovit’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer said.
Huawei will promote Moovit app in its App Gallery as part of its support marketing campaign. This involves splash screens, top banners and key word searches on AppGallery. This will be supported further by promoting Moovit app in third party apps and Huawei’s own native apps as well as joint social media campaigns.
So far, over 1.8 million developers globally have joined the Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem and over 96,000 apps have been integrated into HMS Core. The support they are showing to Moovit is what they iterated about during their 2020 Developer Conference as a way to entice more developers to join their ecosystem.
