Microsoft has announced a cybersecurity initiative dubbed ‘Microsoft Security Experts’. The program will allow interested businesses to hire Microsoft’s cybersecurity employees to help them fend off threats from state-sponsored hackers and ransomware attacks.
Increased cyberattacks
Microsoft has cited the ongoing shortage of cybersecurity personnel during the program launch. In 2021 alone, for instance, Microsoft Security blocked over 9.6 billion malware threats and more than 35.7 billion phishing and other malicious emails.
Currently, Microsoft Security is actively tracking more than 35 ransomware families. The company also revealed that its technology blocks more than 900 brute force password theft attempts every second.
The fast-growing threats and cybercrimes are expected to cost the world $10.5 trillion annually by 2025. This will be an upward trend from $6 trillion in 2021.
To fix this alarming growth of cyber threats, Microsoft proposes increasing cybersecurity experts as a countermeasure.
Microsoft Security Experts for hire
“It’s getting harder every day for organizations to build and maintain a full security team, let alone one with the ever-expanding skillset required to meet the range of today’s security demands,” said Microsoft Corporate Vice President V. Jakkal.
As a result, Microsoft security experts will be available for hire by interested businesses. By offering World-class security expertise, Microsoft joins other established cybersecurity firms such as IBM and SecureWorks in the global cybersecurity competitive landscape.
These experts will focus on helping businesses hunt for threats targeting their networks by using data from Microsoft Defender, Office 365, and other applications.
The program also targets businesses that need to bolster their existing security operations center with more staff. It comes along with a special product known as Microsoft Security Services for Enterprise. This special product is tailored to provide comprehensive security protection across all the platforms a company is using.
