In October 2022, NCBA Loop hinted that it was planning to improve its banking platform for its users. It did not give any details about this plan, but promised that the changes were to take place over the following weeks.
According to a blog post, Loop said that it wants to re-examine the LOOP service and re-design it to better serve its customers.
Beginning with the fundamentals, Loop says it is evolving into a financial partner that aligns with customers’ lifestyles, by connecting all their financial relationships under one roof and providing seamless and centralized control.
The lender adds it recognizes the importance of reliability and has therefore created a strong and resilient core system that can handle a larger number of transactions, leading to faster service and platform-level reliability, with a promise of unparalleled uptime.
“We are excited to bring the new LOOP to life and expect to have the new app ready for your download soon. In the coming weeks, we shall walk you through the new LOOP as we begin the process to move you into the new experience,” says Loop in the said post.
Now, Loop is loved for its offerings, such as a clean app that has great UI and UX features, and perks such as sending money to mobile money for free – even when other banks reintroduced the charges – which have also been stopped as of yesterday.
However, it has been subject to perennial downtimes, especially on weekends when people usually use the service a lot. Customers have mentioned the number of times that Loop has inconvenienced them – and they are quite many.
We hope these changes will address that, and as the quote above goes, it is possible the bank has been re-developing an improved Loop app, which we will definitely download.
To effectively execute the task, Loop has issued a statement that its services will be offline, both for the app and online portal (loop.co.ke) starting tomorrow (Jan 21) at 9 PM all the way to Monday 23rd, at 9 AM.
“After years of listening, learning and discovery, we are excited to announce that we will be upgrading you to a new, better LOOP. To enable us carry out the upgrade we will need to pause all transactions from 9:00 PM Saturday, 21st January 2023 to 9:00 AM Monday, 23rd January 2023. It pains us to have to inconvenience you during this period. We look forward to delivering a new experience that gives you a better way to manage your money,” reads a message to customers.
