Best TECNO smartphones Kenya Techweez

TECNO makes the best affordable foldables, flagships, midrange and entry-level smartphones and 2023 has been their year. Yes, they even have a concept rollable smartphone which they’re calling the Phantom Ultimate.

TECNO now has a clamshell-style foldable called Phantom V Flip which they announced late last month. It is scheduled to launch later next week in the country.

While we wait for those two to be available locally, here are the best TECNO smartphones you can buy in Kenya right now.

TECNO Phantom X2 Pro and TECNO Phantom X2 BACK

TECNO Phantom X2 Series – Ksh 68,000

The Phantom X2 series succeeds the Phantom X series from last year and we have the regular and the Pro versions. The Pro has a retractable portrait lens in the triple main camera setup.

You get:

  • a slightly curved 6.8″ Super AMOLED display(1080 x 2400 pixels) rocking a 120Hz refresh rate in a 20:9 aspect ratio
  • Gorilla Glass Victus
  • 32MP selfie camera
  • Regular X2: 64MP main camera with OIS + 13MP ultrawide + 2MP macro
  • X2 Pro: 50MP main camera with OIS + retractable 50MP portrait lens + 13MP ultrawide
  • Dimensity 9000 5G(4nm) chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM
  • 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage.
  • 5160mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

Pricing starts at Ksh 68,000 and Ksh 82,000 for the Phantom X2 and the Phantom X2 Pro respectively.

TECNO Phantom V Fold – Ksh 129,999

As a first-generation product from TECNO in the foldable space, the Phantom V Fold gets a lot of things right. Flagship design, flagship performance, quality cameras, fast charging and long-lasting battery.

We now have a really good and affordable competitor in the foldable smartphone market in Kenya and globally as well.

  • 6.42″ LTPO AMOLED cover screen at 1080p resolution protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
  • 7.85″ foldable LTPO AMOLED inner screen at 2K resolution
  • 1100 nits in terms of peak brightness and 120hz refresh rate
  • Dimensity 9000+ 5G processor, 12GB of RAM with an additional 9GB virtual RAM. We also get up to 512GB of onboard storage
  • Android 13 and HiOS 13 Fold, upgradeable to Android 14
  • 50MP main, 50MP telephoto with 2X optical zoom(20x Digital Zoom) and 13MP ultrawide.
  • 5000mAh battery and supports for 45W wired charging

TECNO Phantom V Fold recommended retail prices(Exclusive of VAT) start at:

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option: Ksh 129,999
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage option: Ksh 143,999

TECNO Spark 10 – Ksh 19,300

TECNO Spark 10 series

I have liked the improvements TECNO has made across the Spark 10 series especially when it comes to photography.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CqVnCFToCiL/

The Spark 10 ticks off most checkboxes but one feature it falls short on is performance. Even with up to 16GB of RAM, the phone still couldn’t keep up with my demanding tasks. A relatively faster chipset would have made the Spark 10 the perfect budget smartphone.

  • 6.6″ screen sporting a 90Hz refresh rate and HD resolution
  • 16GB of RAM which is 8GB onboard and 8GB virtual.
  • storage options starting at 128GB all the way to 256GB for the Pro version
  • Android 13 and HiOS 12.6
  • Helio G37 chipset
  • 50MP main camera and an additional VGA camera
  • 8MP front-facing camera
  • 5000mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging

TECNO Camon 20 Premier 5G – Ksh 50,999

This is a gorgeous phone both front and back literally.

TECNO Camon 20 Series
TECNO Camon 20 Series

It also has the brains to match thanks to the latest hardware in the phone. The incredible camera performance is the cherry on top as it can take phenomenal photos even in challenging conditions. The super fast charging and long-lasting battery gets a final tick on the Camon 20 Premier 5G making it a premium midrange smartphone worth considering.

  • 6.67″ AMOLED screen rocking 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate.
  • Dimensity 8050 5G chipset with 8GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage
  • Storage goes all the way to 512GB
