Samsung is prepping to launch the Galaxy A55 and the Galaxy A35 which will be announced early next week.
The two will be the company’s top midrange smartphones for this year and succeed the A54 and the A34 from last year.
It is speculated that the duo will be much cheaper than their predecessors.
Samsung Galaxy A55
The Galaxy A55 will pack an Exynos 1480 chipset that sports the same performance as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The processor is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. You can expand the storage with an external microSD card. Leaks suggest we might get up to 12GB RAM.
It will have the same design features as the A54 which includes a glass back and front – both of which will be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus – an improvement over the A54’s Glass 5 protection. It will have IP67 dust and water resistance.
The screen is bigger at 6.6 inches and is a SuperAMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It has 1300 nits peak brightness. You also get stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint reader.
Samsung is shipping the phone with Android 14 and OneUI 6.1. Galaxy AI will be missing here. However, you’ll get four Android OS upgrades unlike the big boys in the S24 series which will get seven years of Andorid OS upgrades.
It will come with a 32MP selfie camera, a 50MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide and 5MP Macro. All the cameras can shoot 4K 30fps video. There’s no telephoto lens here – for that you’ll have to get the Galaxy S23 FE.
Powering the phone is a 5000mAh battery and 25W wired charging.
It’ll come in Navy, Lilac and IceBlue colours.
Samsung Galaxy A34
Galaxy A35 will have an Exynos 1380 processor, 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. There’s also the option to expand onboard memory with external microSD card.
It comes with a glass front, plastic frame and plastic back. The screen is a 6.6-inch SuperAMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. It has Gorilla Glass 5 protection and IP67 ingress protection.
Cameras get upgraded, at least for the primary camera with Samsung switching from 48MP to 50MP with OIS accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro. It also has a 13MP selfie camera. All the cameras can shoot 4K 30fps video.
The phone will ship with Android 14 and OneUI 6.1. It will get four Android OS upgrades.
Like its bigger sibling, it gets the same 5000mAh battery and support for 25W wired charging.
It will come in Black and other colours. Other features include an under-display fingerprint reader and stereo speakers.
