Samsung has announced the availability of Galaxy AI features to their extended lineup of Galaxy devices. This will be made possible through the rollout of a new One UI 6.1 update.
The rollout which began at the end of March will see smartphones like the Galaxy S22 & S23s, Z Fold 4 & 5, Z Flip 4 & 5 and Tab S9 & S8 finally get Galaxy AI.
Galaxy AI was first launched earlier this year through the Galaxy S24 series to introduce “a hybrid approach that combines on-device and cloud-based AI.”
“Our aim with Galaxy AI isn’t just to lead a new age of mobile AI; it’s about empowering users worldwide, including those in Kenya, by making AI more accessible,” said Antony Hutia, Head of Mobile Division Samsung Electronics East Africa.
“This marks just the inception of Galaxy AI,” he adds. “Our vision continues to extend, reaching over 100 million Galaxy users globally by 2024, as we persistently innovate to unlock the boundless potential of mobile AI.”
The AI is Samsung’s answer to this fast-growing market of artificial intelligence development as many other tech firms look to integrate their devices with their versions.
The latest update of Galaxy AI brings in a plethora of capabilities including Generative Edit, where the AI gets to easily resize, reposition or realign objects in photos for a good shot.
The AI also helps in customisation through AI-generated wallpapers among many other features.
