Free things also run the risk of extinction, you hadnt thought of it that way, right? But ina situation where a free thing is eating away into the pocket of the owner, they will be prompted to give up the project and seek things that motivate financially. Thats what happened to Bolt Browser, one that had been a very popular (still is) third party Blackberry app, is available on other platforms as well. The cease of support from the makers came as a result of a split of the parent company Bitstream.
There are definately many loyal users of Bolt Browser, who will be sad to see the support move. Existing files will still be there, but I think they should have opensourced it, make community support it.
Here is the message on the Bolt Browser website:
Dear BOLT User,
The free BOLT mobile browsing service will be discontinued. Unfortunately, the economic circumstances prevent us from running a free service going forward. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your loyalty and support.
The BOLT Team
So what do you feel about the demise of the 2 year old browser?
