Small victory for Ugands’s Unbanked, Uganda’s got Airtel Money

Airtel Money UgandaWith 3800 Airtel Money Agents, Uganda Airtel subscribers now have access to the service that has become close to a basic need to both the banked and unbanked mobile phone users in this region. Mobile money is the soft step for the millions of mobile users who find the inconvenience of formal banking systems, hence this is a victory to Ugandans. They will be able to make airtime top-ups from their phones, send and recieve money, pay utility bills, access bank accounts and withdraw the money from interswitch ATMs in Uganda.

In addition to that, Airtel Uganda partnered with several banks including Chartered Bank, Post Bank, Pride Micro Finance, Centenary Rural Development Bank, Equity Bank, Diamond Trust Bank, United Bank of Africa, Kenya Commercial Bank, Baroda, Eco Bank and Finance Trust Bank for customers to deposit, withdraw cash, transfer money and pay bills.
