Huawei did announce another smartphone on the same day as the Huawei Ascend Mate, this one being the 5 inch flagship phone of 2013; the Huawei Ascend D2. This one according to the list of specs is a braggart. The 5 inch display is a full HD IPS+ at 443ppi 1920 x 1080 “Super Retina”, has Corning Gorilla glass and is dust and water resistant. Ascend D2 runs Huawei’s own K3V2 1.5Ghz quad-core processor and a 13MP camera. The battery is a 3000 mAh workhorse with the nice things that Huawei announced with the phablet, i.e. Quick Power Control (QPC) and Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX). This device, according to Huawei, can do 6 hours standby on WCDMA.
Ascend D2 weighs 170 grams and is 9.9 mm thin with curved design and has an Aluminium body and metal frame. Availability of this Huawei’s flagship design is within January in China and in Japan later on. Colours are pure white and crystal blue, no mention of pricing, just like the bigger brother Ascend Mate but there is a mention that there will be a 4.7 inch version of the Ascend D2.
