Google recently announced that they will be shutting down one of their service Google reader in a few weeks. This was not taken lightly by the millions of users who rely on Google reader to aggregate their feeds for offline reading. Users even tries signing petitions but it seems Google are unmoved and will proceed to shut down the service in a Spring Clean.
Feedly which has not been much pronounced and has been previously overshadowed by mighty Google on that front, were on the receiving end. They report that they received over 500,000 converts in 48 hours. This naturally calls for server and capacity upgrades that have seen Feedly launching new servers and increasing bandwidth ten times the previous capacity.
Every cloud has a silver lining, Feedly’s was almost platinum when they were at the right place at the right time. Minimal marketing effort.
