UpstartAfricaTV auditions started a fortnight ago in Kisumu and Mombasa looking for creatives, developers and marketers to join the first Kenyan tech based business reality TV show that premiers on TV mid November this year. Most people think that the majority if not all talent in Kenya is based in Nairobi. The auditions have told an absolutely different story. The turn-out has been great, the ideas even better than expected and the contestants have been remarkable.
Upstart Africa’s vision is to use television to enthuse thousands of young people across Africa to take up technology and entrepreneurship as a feasible option rather than job seeking. Participants on the show will form teams of three with divergent skill sets that complement each other. The teams will then wrangle on ideas that use tech to solve real world problems. Mentors will guide the teams at each stage. The judges shall comprise of Venture Capitalists. The winning team shall win $50,000 as seed capital to take their idea to the next stage.
The final auditions are coming to Nairobi this Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of October 2013 at the Kenya National Theatre. Do you want to be part of the show or know someone who does? If so sign up for the auditions by going to the auditions site or by sharing this post with a friend who would be interested.
