Microsoft announced Windows Phone 8.1 some three months ago, and as has been the trend, Nokia personalizes it further, just like any other OEM does it, like on Android. Now Windows Phone 8.1 features are listed here in a previous post, but Nokia naturally adds features specific to Nokia Lumia, even now that it’s part of Microsoft. The update has already been made available for developers for over a month now to enable developers get their apps tested and optimized for the new OS version.

Lumia Cyan is the name of the Windows Phone 8.1 update that hits the Windows Phone 8 devices starting today. Top among the features to expect are:-
Nokia Device Hub is a new feature with the Cyan update that functions as a tracker for accessories, showing where you last used it if it’s missing.
Lumia 1520 and Lumia Icon in the high end both get special treatment though, don’t know what that means for the Lumia 930. This includes upgrades to sound quality of video recording facilitated by Nokia Rich Recording and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 sound. Camera also gets some plus like improved coours, low light performance boost, continous autofocus and RAW DNG image improvement with Living Images feature.
You will also be able to project content to a connected TV screen or projector from either of the two devices using Microsoft Screen Share technology. SensorCore SDK BETA will allow apps like Bing Fitness and Health to use your location data for real-time updates, especially when jogging.
Lumia Cyan update hits the download servers come to all Windows Phone 8 Lumia smartphones starting today and spread out to weeks while you will get notified by the phone when your turn comes. This happens automatically and you can then choose to download depending on your data settings.
