StarTimes has today launched a campaign aimed at increasing the penetration of its pay television offerings by slashing the prices of the StarTimes decoder by 44%. In a deal that will last between 20th July to 30th September, new subscribers will be able to purchase the decoders for Ksh 949 down from 1,699. With the new offering, the subscribers will pay Ksh 199 for the decoder and 750 as subscription fees. On purchase, subscribers will get to choose between 5 months of Nyota bouquet, one and a half months Basic bouquet, 3 weeks of Classic bouquet or 2 weeks Unique bouquet.
StarTimes also extended the discount to auxiliary devices purchased with the decoder by slashing the prices for the external antennae and 10 meter cable to Kshs. 1,000 from Kshs. 1,200. The antennae is particularly useful in areas with low reception with most users opting to mount it for better signal reception.
The timing of deal seeks targets sports lovers following StarTimes acquisition of exclusive rights for two years to broadcast the International World Rally Championships, the World Boxing Titles and Germany football league, the Bundesliga both events are expected to kick-off in August. The events will be screen on various StarTimes sports channels including Sports Premium, Sports 2 and Sports Focus.
