Twitter recently announced they were laying off 8% of its workforce in restructuring efforts. The lay-offs were announced by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey who recently took over as CEO of the company. Following his appointment by the board of directors, @Jack promised to bring back efficiency in operations and that meant job cuts were to follow soon. The news was announced via email where Dorsey also announced Twitter is working on a road map for its various services including Periscope and Vine with the intent of creating experiences as seen with the recently launched Moments.
One of the Twitter employees affected by the job cuts was Bart Teeuwisse, a Senior Software Engineer who worked at the company since 2011. The employee took to Twitter to announce that he was affected by the job cuts but found out when he was not able to access his official work email account. From the screenshot the employee sent about the layoff also shows an email from Github that says he had been removed from Twitter Inc. In the email sent by the CEO on the restructuring efforts, Jack Dorsey said “We are doing this with the utmost respect for each and every person. Twitter will go to great lengths to take care of each individual by providing generous exit packages and help finding a new job” . Looks like they forgot to do just that with this employee.
