Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is set to introduce a new member of its Mate smartphone lineup on November 26th according to invitations to a press event on the same date.
At 5.7 inches, the Huawei Mate 8 will enter the market barely three months since the Mate S, a 5.5 inch smartphone from Huawei, was announced and probably even before it is available in some markets. The Mate 8 is expected to ship with the same top of the range features like the Mate S plus Huawei’s latest Kirin 950 SoC and an upgraded display panel trading the full HD panel on the Mate S with a Quad HD one. While unconfirmed, the device is likely is to also feature the pressure-sensitive “force touch” capabilities of the Mate S Premium. Other expected specifications include 3 GB RAM, a 21 megapixel rear camera backed by an 8 megapixel selfie shooter and 32 or 64 GB onboard storage.
The Mate 8, is expected to be Huawei’s response to the likes of the Galaxy Note 5 and the large iPhone 6S Plus as the company intensifies its quest to take head on the big two, Samsung and Apple while also getting closer to its goal of shipping 100 million smartphones in 2015.
