CES 2017: Asus Have Created a 13-Inch Laptop with a 14-Inch Screen

As promised, we will bring you the latest from CES 2017 and Asus has wowed the world by creating a 14-inch screen laptop that fits in the chasis of a 13-inch laptop. I know this sounds unbelievable and you may wonder how this was made possible. Well, it’s actually not that complicated. See, normal laptops that we are used to, have huge bezels and everyone can attest to this. This means that a 13-inch chasis laptop could have a screen as small as 11-inch, thus selling you a smaller screen than advertised. With the ZenBook 3 Deluxe, Asus have managed to literally squeeze out almost all the bezels from this laptop and thus increase the screen real estate to 14-inches.

The ZenBook 3 Deluxe 14-inch screen is full HD (1920*1080) and covered in Gorilla Glass 5, but that not all. It is also packed with Intel’s latest Core i7 Kaby Lake processors, upto 16GB RAM and upto 1TB SSD storage (on the high-end models) and running Windows 10. Other specs include:

  • Three USB-C ports – two of which include thunderbolt 3 support
  • Backlit full-sized keyboard
  • Quad-speaker Harman Kardon audio
  • Optional fingerprint scanner (Windows Hello compatible)

The Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe comes with a price tag of $1,699 (around KES.176,000), which is not cheap but considering the ZenBook 3 Deluxe is going head-to-head with Apple’s New MacBook Pro, it is cheaper and yes, offers more USB-C ports than the similar priced entry-level MacBook Pro. The ZenBook 3 Deluxe will be available as from May 2017, we might never get to see it locally but hey, at least you know it exists.
