Back in May, OPPO unveiled their “selfie expert” the F3 in Kenya. The device which gets its nickname from its prominent dual front camera setup also features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and a 3200mAh battery. The dual selfie shooters include a 16 MP f/2.0 lens and a 120-degree wide-angle 8 MP lens. The main camera on the back is a 13MP f/2.2 lens.
When the F3 launched, it was retailing at Ksh.33,000. A month or so later, OPPO introduced a Black Edition of the F3 that had exactly the same specifications of the F3 launched in May aside from, well, the black colour. In this manner, the company introduced the F3 Barcelona Limited Edition that started selling on 1st of September locally.
In case you missed the humongous billboards around town, OPPO is an official partner of the Barcelona Football club and they have been releasing Barcelona limited edition smartphones for a while now.
Now back to the F3 Limited Edition, the device was retailing at Ksh.39,990 and I say “was” because it sold out within 48 hours according to OPPO. To justify the significant increase in price, the device comes in a popping red colour, with gold colour accents and the Barcelona logo on the lower back in 18K Gold. The software also gets an update, unfortunately not on the Android version side that remains Android Marshmallow, the update is simply a Barcelona theme on top of Color OS.The internals remain exactly the same as the standard F3, the only difference in the packaging being, the F3 FCB limited edition came with a special Barcelona backpack as a gift. For those who missed the memo and are wondering if you could somehow get your hands on the OPPO F3 Barcelona Limited Edition, unfortunately, OPPO has informed us that they will not be bringing in any new units. Bummer!
