Huawei Mate 10 Now Available in Kenya For Ksh.80,000

Slightly over one month since Huawei Global announced their new flagships the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, Huawei Kenya has introduced the Mate 10 series into the Kenyan market via an exclusive launch with Jumia. The Mate 10 Pro is available immediately, retailing for Ksh.80,000 and comes bundled with a free 5000mAh battery.

Just like last year’s Mate 9, the Mate 10 comes packed with AI capabilities. Huawei claims that the Mate 10 is born fast and will stay as fast, even after 18 months of usage. Huawei has also applied some AI capabilities in the camera software to allow for “AI-Powered” bokeh effect, real-time scene and object recognition, real-time built-in translator for voice, texts, conversations and images for up to 50 languages, clarity in voice calls, even in noisy environments such as a train station, powered by AI.

The Mate 10 is also aiming at drawing attention from its competitor, Samsung who have DeX, an accessory that turns your Galaxy S8/Note 8 smartphone into a desktop. Huawei’s implementation does not require any accessories, aside from the included USB-C cable to connect your Mate 10 smartphone to a screen, toggle PC mode on the phone and voila, you have a full desktop experience, what Huawei is calling Mobile Office.

For those interested in the Mate 10 Pro, you will have to wait a little longer to get the newer 18:9 aspect ratio and water resistance, both of which are missing from the standard Mate 10. The Mate 10, when available, will retail for Ksh.90,000 via Safaricom.

If you feel the Mate 10 and 10 Pro are a price too high for you to think about, there’s a midrange device in the series, the Mate 10 Lite that has a 5.9-inch 1080P display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 64GB internal memory and 4GB RAM, Dual 16MP + 12MP camera at the back and Dual 13 MP selfie shooters. It has a fingerprint reader and a 3340mAh battery. The retail price is set for Ksh.40,000 but availability is yet to be known.
