The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) announced the launch of the BAKE Awards for the year 2018. The annual blogging competition started in 2012 and this is the seventh year that the organization is holding the competition.
There are several phases till the eventual event to announce the winners. Currently we are now on the Submissions phase which started on January 11th and are going on until March 6th this year. The Judging phase will start from March 10th to March 27th 2018 and Online voting will start from March 28th to April 30th 2018. The zenith of the whole process will be the Winners Gala event which will be held at May 12th 2018.
BAKE has also announced that this year, they have introduced 3 categories: Best Beauty and Hair blog, Best Video blog and Best Environment blog. This has expanded the total number of categories in the competition to 23.
Last year, BAKE says that 10,000 blogs were submitted and 800,000 votes being recorded. In 2017, BAKE notes that during the awards, we witnessed first time winners winning the Blog of the Year (Magunga Williams) and Best Topical Blog (Owaahh). We also saw women doing quite well and emerging winners like Diana Kaluhi (Kaluhis Kitchen), Jamila El-Jabry (lifeinmombasa), Rachael Muthoni (safari254), Rayhab Gachango (potentash), Dr Wandia Njoya (wandianjoya), Maryann Waweru (mummytales) and Nyawira Mumenya (curveswithstyle).
Since we are currently on the submission phase of the competition, bloggers and fans should visit bakeawards.co.ke/submit. In the website, you will be required to give your name, email address and phone number as well as adding your favourite blogs URLs on the various categories.
