The founders, Preet Tailor (a business and I.T student at Strathmore University and Oshwal College) and Suhail Noorani (a B.Com graduate from University of Nairobi with experience in external audit and currently specializing in ACCA), came together to start Nyumbani Taxi, where riders can connect with the taxi drivers through their android application across the Nairobi city.
The Nyumbani Taxi team has partnered with the existing taxi drivers to bring them onboard our platform to offer reliable transportation services to our clients wherever they are in the city. Working with these taxi drivers allows us to offer unprecedented services that are insured to your last drop off point.
Well, you see, before the introduction of ride hailing applications in the country, we had an ecosystem of taxi drivers who had invested in their vehicles and ensured they were offering a great consistent product at a great price. Then digital disruption happened and competition grew tenfold. The current state of the economy did not help the situation thereby resulting in a majority of taxi drivers to lose their cars and businesses.
We at Nyumbani Taxi decided to come up with an Android application to assist the existing taxi drivers grow their clientele through scheduling and requesting for taxi services at the tap of a button on their phones. We are partnering with taxi drivers across the city to make commuting enjoyable and reliable. By the fourth quarter, we will be in several other cities including Kisumu, Mombasa and Nakuru.
