All good things must come to an end. Microsoft is shutting down the Windows Phone 8.1 app store this coming December. The Redmond-based tech giant pulled the plug on Windows Phone 8.1 back in July 2017 which meant that Windows phone running the operating system could no longer get software updates.

Microsoft is now killing the app store this coming December. Users still on Windows Phone 8.1 won’t be able to download any apps from the app store form the 16th of December.

Apps still on the Windows Phone 8.1 app store will not receive updates and some will malfunction as a result of not getting Microsoft’s services.

Windows 10 Mobile

The only solution for those still holding on Windows Phones is to update your Lumia device to Windows 10 Mobile although Microsoft is also planning to end their official support for Windows 10 Mobile by the end of this year too.

The good thing is that the app store will still be operational.
