Internet service provider Poa! Internet has started expanding to areas outside Nairobi as it has promised after it raised KES 3.1 billion in January.
The firm, which targets low-income areas for affordable internet has been running its operations in Kenya since 2016. However, its offerings have only been a reserve for select places in Nairobi, including Kawangware.
Now, Poa! has started offering its services in Kajiado County. Its next location is Ongata Rongai. It will also be serving customers in Ngong area from this February.
It is also looking forward to entering the following areas: Banana, Athi River, Fedha, Kamulu, Kiserian, Kikuyu, Utawala, Kitengela, Limuru, and Thika, to mention a few.
As said, in January, Poa! closed a KES 3.1 billion round of funding. The drive was led by Africa50. Another member of the drive was Novastar Ventures, which made its third investment into the company, among several other existing shareholders.

Besides expanding to other towns in Kenya, Poa! is also planning to offer internet services to other parts of the country.
Poa! has so far garnered more than 12K home internet users. It also supports thousands of other Wi-Fi customers, who pay a small number of fees to access unlimited internet over a certain period by just ensuring they are next to one of Poa!’s many hotspots.
Poa! is one of the many internet companies that are trying to have a slice of the internet business in Nairobi. The city is served by many other companies, including Safaricom and Faiba, but Poa!’s upper hand is affordability. Its cheapest plan costs KES 1500 for a 4Mbps connection.
