OPPO Reno8 5G Display

OPPO is now rolling out the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 update to its premium midrange device – the OPPO Reno8 5G in Kenya. This comes four days after its siblings the OPPO Reno6 5G and OPPO Reno7 5G got updated to Android 13 and ColorOS 13 in the country.

ColorOS 13 is OPPO’s custom UI made in collaboration with Google’s Android and OPPO is proving its commitment to bringing timely updates to its devices.

OPPO Reno7 5G, Reno6 5G Finally Get Android 13 in Kenya

ColorOS 13 comes with distinct visual changes that follow aquarmorphic design for its icons and animations. Its icons still follow Material You theme and colour palettes.

Always-On display gets updates with new features and integration – the most important one being Spotify which now has a currently playing widget. ColorOS 13 has an insightful always-on that shows you how many times you have unlocked your phone and interacted with your device.

The quick settings panel on the notification panel gets revamped too with bigger icons for the playback control widget, Wifi and Mobile network.

Other features include enlarged folders, improved privacy and security settings including the ability to blur names and avatars in chats when sharing screenshots.

The important one is we now have a QR code scanner right in the quick settings toggle- no more need to download QR scanner apps.

How To Get The Update

To get the update, head to settings, scroll to About Device, tap on the ColorOS 12 icon to get Software Update. If the update is available for your phone, a notification will pop up asking you to download and update.

It’s a huge update – a 5.33GB download.

The OPPO Reno8 5G is a significant step up – through and through. From the unified design that blends the camera island with the rest of the back. Speaking of the cameras, we get a big upgrade too. Sony’s 50MP IMX766 sensor for the main camera and an OPPO-exclusive 32MP SONY IMX709 sensor for the front camera.
