The long-awaited Android 14 and ColorOS 14 update is finally rolling out to the OPPO Reno10 and Reno8 in Kenya.
OPPO Reno8 and Reno10 launched in October 2022 and September 2023 respectively.
OPPO Reno8 came with Android 12 and ColorOS 12 straight out of the box. It got Android 13 and ColorOS 13 in January last year and is now getting Android 14 and ColorOS 14 this month.
OPPO Reno10 launched with Android 13 and ColorOS 13.1 and now gets the latest Andoid and ColorOS versions this month.
The software upgrades the two phones are getting cement OPPO ‘s timely software support making their phones the best midrange devices to pick.
How To Get The Update
To get the update, head to settings, scroll to About Device, tap on the ColorOS 13 icon to get Software Update. If the update is available for your phone, a notification will pop up asking you to download and update.
It’s a huge update so ensure you’re connected to a WiFi network or have enough data bundles. After it gets downloaded, it will be installed and your phone will restart.
ColorOS 14 comes with features like the Trnity Engine, Aqua Dynamic Design, AI-powered Smart Touch, smart charging, smart image matting, picture keeper, auto-pixealte, phone link, quick launch, and more.
Android 14 brings features like a customizable lock screen, new gesture navigation tutorials, a clock shortcut in the notification shade, new Material Design 3 toggles, new Material You icons and colour palette, a prominent charging indicator on the status bar, customizable emoji wallpapers, AI-generated wallpapers, a delightful user switching animation, a new mouse cursor, Health Connector now becoming a system app, new ANGLE layer, new toggles for Bluetooth stylus devices, Battery health indicator, and more.
OPPO Reno8 Features
The OPPO Reno8 5G is a significant step up – through and through. From the unified design that blends the camera island with the rest of the back. Speaking of the cameras, we get a big upgrade too. Sony’s 50MP IMX766 sensor for the main camera and an OPPO-exclusive 32MP SONY IMX709 sensor for the front camera.

The main camera gets complimented with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor.
The 32MP front-facing camera also has an RGBW filter for taking better and sharper selfies even in low light.
The processor gets a huge upgrade too – from MediaTek’s midrange Dimensity 900 chipset to flagship quality Dimensity 1300 chipset.
Charging speeds increase too from 65W to 80W.
OPPO Reno10 Features
OPPO Reno10 has a new triple camera setup headlined by a 64MP primary camera, a 32MP portrait telephoto(2x Zoom) lens and an additional 8MP ultrawide camera. All three are housed in a pill-shaped camera island at the back of the phone.
Video recording is capped at 4K 30fps with UltraSteady mode caped at 1080p 60fps.
Elsewhere, we have a 6.7-inch 10-bit curved AMOLED screen that comes with a 120Hz refresh rate, 950 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+ support(Widevine L1 DRM). Other neat display features include 01 Ultra Vision Engine and Video Color Boost.

The screen comes protected by Asahi Glass Dragontrail Star 2 which provides better durability against corner drops for the phone. It is the latest glass protection of 2023 made by Japanese tech giant AGC.
The recently launched MediaTek Dimensity 7050 5G chipset powers the Reno10 coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. ColorOS 13.1 adds 8GB of virtual RAM. There’s support for expandable storage via the microSD card slot.
A 5000mAh battery that supports 67W fast Type-C SuperVOOC charging powers the Reno10. A 30-minute charge will get you to 75%.
