OPPO ColorOS 14

OPPO ColorOS 14

OPPO recently updated its software to ColorOS 14 which the OPPO Reno11 series comes with straight out of the box.

ColorOS 14 has new user interface features and enhanced performance to bring a buttery smooth experience to OPPO’s smartphones including the Reno11 series.

Here are some of the features you need to know:

Trinity Engine

Trinity Engine is OPPO’s new tool featuring ROM, RAM and CPU vitalization that efficiently manages computing resources including RAM and storage to make the UI smoother and quicker. OPPO says that these features should help its phones perform better in the long run.

OPPO ColorOS 14 Overview

With ROM vitalization, you can save your device up to 21GB of storage space by letting you compress apps and merge duplicated files within the phone manager settings.

RAM vitalization accelerates the memory to make the OS feel a lot more efficient especially when running and switching between multiple apps at once. You can even run more apps(up to 28) in the background for up to 72 hours.

CPU vitalization makes the phone feel a lot smoother and uses system-level computing and power scheduling to find a good balance between high performance and low power consumption.

Aqua Dynamic Design

ColorOS 14 uses aqua dynamic design across the interface elements including widgets to offer functionality without being too distracting. This is seen in the panels, capsules and bubbles that appear from the status bar for present activity statuses or system notifications.

There’s a new aquamorgraphic colouring system that dynamically adjusts to various scenarios based on the time of the day – so in the morning you’ll see dawn hues as it turns to dusk hues in the evening and dark blue hues later at night.

There are aquamorphic sound effects too for alarms and ringtones thanks to OPPO’s partnership with Sonic Minds and Epic Sounds to create these sounds thus enhancing the interface categorised under – Core UI and Groups. You can choose either from both or mix and match as you like.

There’s now Go Green AOD theme that shows Earth from space, revealing a natural landscape and beauty of the ocean when you reach your step counts and showing how much carbon dioxide levels you’ve reduced as you move.

AI-Powered Smart Touch

This is a tool that lets you extract any content from any screenshots you take this includes text and images
from inside your native and third-party apps I even love that you can store the media inside the notes app or within the File Dock.

AI Smart Touch can be accessed within the smart sidebar and you just have to drag the content to the sidebar to get it saved. It will be saved on the cloud via the file dock as well so you can access it on other OPPO devices – perfect for when you’re multitasking.

Smart Image Matting

This is a new feature that allows you to lift multiple subjects(up to six) straight out of a photo to be copied and pasted as a background-less version.

Smart Charging

ColorOS 14 has a Smart Chargng system that is AI-powered to set the charging current based on your phone usage to increase the battery health and life.

Picture Keeper

This is a privacy feature that adds extra permission before apps access your gallery especially when sharing videos and photos with other apps. You get a third option to selectively share your media and secure the rest of your gallery.

Auto-Pixelate

You can now hide your personal details in your screenshots with a simple tap using this feature. This includes travel information, names and avatars by pixelating them.

Phone Link

OPPO partnered with Microsoft Phone Lnk to let you access your text messages and phone calls from your PC. Not only that, you can drag and drop text, images and files seamlessly between your OPPO device and your PC.

Quick Launch Apps

You can customise which apps to quickly launch right from the lock screen. You simply longpress the fingerprint reader when unlocking and a pop-up menu with the apps of your choosing will show up.

Productivity Features

ColorOS 14 has three multitasking features including Split View where you can have two apps open simultaneously on the same screen, Flexible Window where apps are open in small interactive windows and Smart Sidebar which has some apps you can select for quick access by simply pulling the bar from the side.

The new File Dock mentioned above is found here too.

Snapchat Shortcut

Snapchat can now be easily accessed as a shortcut on the lock screen. There’s a Snapchat widget too on the Shelf that allows you to get at-a-glance updates on new statuses, new messages and locations of your friends.
