Safaricom is offering 2GB of data for KES 100 in 2023’s Valentine’s celebration.
The bundle, which is usually halved in ordinary times, is now available for users who want to access more internet services, but with a bigger package.
The bundle can be accessed via Mysafaricom app (it is the first thing you will see on the app, which has since received a server-side update to reflect the Day of Love). You can also purchase it via *544#.
The telco has been at the forefront when it comes to offering affordable data bundles. A few years ago, it decided to introduce non-expiry data bundles, meaning that customers can purchase a bundle and use it for as long as they want without the fear of it approaching a sell-by date.
Other developments include Tunukiwa Bundles, which are based on a customer’s data usage patterns. Often, Tunukiwa includes a 1 GB package for KES 20, but that only lasts for one hour. There is a 1.5GB package that can stretch up to 3 hours.
Although these bundles have a short validity period, they have the advantage of being speedy, meaning that the majority of users have the ability to practically use them within the period and at full, or near full speeds. This is because Safaricom has done a great job in expanding its mobile internet coverage, which, in the near future, will likely hit 99% in terms of 4G reach.
The telco launched 5G services for commercial applications. Access can be found in key parts of Nairobi County, as well as other parts of the country such as Western Kenya (within Kisii Town CBD, for instance), and parts of Nakuru.

This will continue to grow as Safaricom continues to work with partners such as MediaTek to ensure that 5G smartphones are available to consumers at an affordable price.
