Android 14-powered FuntouchOS 14 is now rolling out to the recently launched Vivo V29 and Vivo V27 in Kenya. The two are Vivo’s midrange devices and top camera smartphones in the country.
We’ve already reviewed both the V29 and the V27 and they’re now getting the biggest update just as the new month is starting.
Android 14 was unveiled at this year’s Made by Google event and vivo announced FunTouchOS 14 two days later. Starting today, the new Funtouch OS 14 is going to the Vivo V29 and Vivo V27 in the country.
Funtouch OS 14 brings with it new video editing tools in the gallery, new personalization options, improved privacy and security(running November 2023 security patch), upgraded multitasking capabilities and improved memory management.
Smooth Envision optimizes RAM usage by reducing the number of persistent processes running in the background to improve multitasking.
The upgraded small window feature now lets you support up to 12 small windows in the background and the apps can be quickly accessed by swiping from the side so now you can multitask even harder.

Customisation options have been refined as you can now select three new clock layout styles, new Always-on display styles, and a new monochrome theme based on the My Color Palette.
The new video editing tools let you get creative without the need to download a third-party app. You get to export the edited videos in their original quality including 4K resolution. Vivo also added new 25 filters and improved thumbnails.

Other new features include a new control centre, privacy password verification, smart mirror privacy notification, optimized widget layouts, per-app volume control feature and more.
How to Upgrade to Android 14 and Funtouch OS 14
To get the Android 14 upgrade, head to Settings and scroll down to System Update. There will be a notification on this screen if the update is available for you. You can also tap on the gear icon on the top right to access the update.
It’s worth noting that this is a 5.71GB download so you’ll need to e connected to a WiFi connection. After it gets downloaded, it will be installed and your phone will restart.

Vivo V29 5G goes for Ksh 64,999. Vivo V27 5G goes for Khs 52,999 while the V27e starts at Ksh 37,999. They are available on Vivo’s official retail stores countrywide and partner e-commerce sites.
Both phones come with a 2-year warranty period and 100-day free screen replacement.
